5 Spring Festivals and Events at Philly-Area Farms That You Don’t Want to Miss

With winter nearly a distant memory now, Philly-area farms are coming back to life in a big way, with pick-your-own produce events and springtime farm festivals galore. Here, our picks for the must-do farm-country activities to add to your calendar — tractor rides, concerts, even bike tours included.

Summer Wine Concert Series at Shady Brook Farm
When: Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m., May 6th through September 2nd.
Where: 931 Stony Hill Road, Yardley.

How’s this for date night done right? Every Friday at this Bucks County farm, you can listen to local bands while stargazing and sipping pours from Rose Bank Winery, a winery in nearby Newtown. If you must bring the kids, there are inflatable attractions, a playground and pedal go-carts to keep them busy while you enjoy the show. Admission is $5 per person; tasting is $6 per person for a select flight of wines.

Strawberry Festival at Linvilla Orchards
When: Saturday, June 4th, starting at 8 a.m.
Where: 137 West Knowlton Road, Media.

Super-kid-friendly Linvilla takes the cake — quite literally — for strawberry-related activities: The annual festival features a four-foot-by-12-foot strawberry shortcake, which the farm claims is the biggest in Delaware County. (We’re sure they’re right.) The cake will make its debut at 11 a.m., but there are activities all day long, including strawberry picking, live music and a donut-eating game.

Taste of Weaver’s at Weaver’s Orchard
When: Saturday, June 4th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where:40 Fruit Lane, Morgantown.

Weaver’s Orchard is launching strawberry season with tasty samplings. After picking your own berries, head to the market for nibble on free food, from handmade granola to artisan cheeses.

Strawberry Festival Run at The Market at DelVal
When: Saturday, May 21st, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: 2100 Lower State Road, Doylestown.

Consider this your perfect excuse to skip the gym: DelVal’s first ever Strawberry Festival Run includes 5K and 10K races on the paved (and car-free!) 202 Parkway Trail. After crossing the finish line, head to the picking fields for pick-your-own strawberries, or check out the tractor rides, potato sack races and live music. Race registration is $40 and includes entry to the strawberry festival; admission is $3 per person for anyone not participating in race.

Wyebrook Bike Ride at Wyebrook Farm
When: Saturday, May 21st, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Where: 150 Wyebrook Road, Honey Brook.

Take a tour of the country on two wheels at Wyebrook’s Celebration of Spring bike ride, which starts and ends at the farm. You can choose to complete either a 10-miler, 31-miler or Metric Century (i.e. 100 kilometers, or 62.137 miles), all of which will take you through rolling, picturesque Amish country. (Don’t worry; there are two rest stops with water and food to keep you fueled.) After the ride, belly up to a picnic table for a BBQ buffet lunch of Wyebrook Farm BBQ, sides, drinks and beer. The ride is $20 per person, and lunch is an additional $20.
