Taylor Swift Donates $50,000 to Young Fan with Cancer
America’s favorite pop star is as generous as they come. When an 11-year-old fan was diagnosed with cancer and could no longer attend Taylor Swift’s concert, the “Bad Blood” singer generously donated $50,000 to the fan’s GoFundMe page and left a heartfelt message to brighten her day.
Naomi Oakes, 11, hails the Wyomissing native as her favorite singer and was planning to attend her August 18th concert in Phoenix. But plans changed on June 25th, when Naomi was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, which means immediate aggressive treatment and six to nine months of hospitalization.
Naomi and her family made an inspiring video telling Naomi’s story and her love for the singer, and naming “Bad Blood” as her fight song. After posting the video to YouTube, she asked the “Taylor Nation” for their help in getting the video to reach Swift.
Just two days after the video was uploaded, Swift reached out to the 11-year-old by graciously donating $50,000 to her GoFundMe page and writing: “To the beautiful and brave Naomi, I’m sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Let’s focus on getting you feeling better. I’m sending the biggest hugs to you and your family.”
Soon after, another video was posted to YouTube of Naomi’s reaction to seeing Swift’s donation. The adorable fan is ecstatic, staring at her phone in amazement with a huge smile on her face.
Keep fighting the “Bad Blood,” Naomi!
