qFLIX Philadelphia LGBTQ Film Fest
Over 50 LGBTQ films from a variety of genres will be featured at this week's qFLIX festival. Various theaters throughout Center City will screen both local and international films, including several world and regional premieres. Zydeco-A-Go-Go at Penn Museum
The Penn Museum's Summer Nights Concert Series continues this week with Zydeco-A-Go-Go, a funky New Orleans rhythm and blues band that plays Creole and Cajun 2-step tunes. The newest offering from the ever-charming Bearded Ladies, Bitter Homes and Gardens, runs in two separate pop-up locations. Defending the Caveman at Penn's Landing Playhouse
The long-running Broadway play Defending the Caveman returns to Philadelphia at the Penn's Landing Playhouse. Local performer Vince Valentine takes on the comedic one-man show about gender, sex, and relationships, guaranteed to make you laugh in your seat. Plan-ta-shun at the African American Museum in Philadelphia
Contemporary artist Colin Quashie presents an installation of modern works titled Plan-ta-shun at the African American Museum in Philadelphia. Quashie uses "the language and imagery of marketing and mass media to lampoon racist historical norms and challenge contemporary racial and social constructs."
