Taylor Swift Officially Puts 1989 on Apple Music

Taylor Swift in her “Shake It Off” video, a single from 1989 that you’ll soon be able to stream on Apple Music.

After a much-publicized back-and-forth with Apple that started with an open letter over the weekend, Taylor Swift has officially decided to put her latest—and highly coveted, apparently—album, 1989, on Apple Music. The change comes after Apple announced that it would reverse a policy that said it wouldn’t pay artists during a free three-month trial offer available to all new members of the streaming service.

About 10 minutes before press time she broke her silence on the Apple matter in a series of three tweets that read: “After the events of this week, I’ve decided to put 1989 on Apple Music…and happily so. … In case you’re wondering if this is some exclusive deal like you’ve seen Apple do with other artists, it’s not. … This is simply the first time it’s felt right in my gut to stream my album. Thank you, Apple, for your change of heart.”

This is the first time the album will be available via streaming, since she pulled her music from Spotify last year.
