Tig Notaro Hospitalized Following Show at the Trocadero

Only a night after performing standup at Philadelphia’s Trocadero last Friday evening, comedian Tig Notaro was hospitalized, having to cancel shows in Boston and Denver on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Her show promoters, AEG Live, released a statement saying that Notaro “is dealing with a medical emergency and is being hospitalized. …  She will be all right but has to cancel the show tonight.”

AEG Live failed to give further reasoning for Notaro’s hospitalization. The comedian has made a name for herself by being so blunt and open about a string of illnesses she suffered in 2012, including pneumonia and breast cancer, which resulted in a successful double mastectomy surgery. In fact, at a show in New York City on Thursday night, she made headlines by taking off her shirt in the middle of the show and performing the rest of the set topless.
