8 Halloween Events in Philly That Are Just For Kids

We’ve already told you about all the spooky, ghoulish events around the city this month, but what about the little trick-or-treaters? There’s plenty of kid-friendly Halloween fun in Philly, too, and we’ve rounded it up for you.

Boo at the Zoo
The Philadelphia Zoo hosts two weekends of not-so-scary activities so kids can celebrate Halloween in costume with their favorite zoo animals. There will be live music, food, games, and more, all included with general admission. October 18th and 19th, and October 25th and 26th, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Philadelphia Zoo, 34th Street and Girard Avenue.
Halloween in Manayunk
Enjoy a family movie night on Friday, October 24th at 6:30 p.m. at the newly opened Venice Island Performing Arts & Recreation Center. Trick-or-treat along Main Street and head to Fall Fest on Saturday. Most activities are free and open to the public. Friday and Saturday, October 24th and 25th, times and locations vary.
Headhouse District Pumpkin Fall Festival
Join South Street’s Headhouse District for a day of fun that includes free pumpkin-painting, free hayrides, storytelling, a Fall Bazaar, and live entertainment of all sorts (think: circus performers). The festival is free and open to the public. Saturday, October 25th, noon-5 p.m. 2nd Street Between Pine and Lombard streets.

Fall Fest & Spooky Saturday
Easy Passyunk gets in the holiday spirit with craft vendors, live music, drinks and street eats. Dress up your little ones for the costume contest while they enjoy pumpkin-painting and trick-or-treating. The festival is free and open to the public. Saturday, October 25th, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., East Passyunk Avenue and Tasker Street.
Peddler’s Village Scarecrow Competition & Display
Head to Peddler’s Village for a free peek at 100 life-size scarecrows and judge this year’s winners for yourself. While you’re there, check out the Grand Carousel and Game Room at Giggleberry Fair. Count’s Halloween Spooktacular
Take a stroll down Sesame Street for un-spooky character hayrides, new Halloween shows, themed mazes, and the Neighborhood Street Party Halloween Parade. Don’t miss The Count’s Halloween Party October 25th and 26th. Most activities free with general admission. Weekends through Sunday, October 26th, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sesame Place, 100 Sesame Road, Langhorne.
The witches of Linvilla Orchards don’t look so scary, do they?
Hayride to the Witches’ House Linvilla Orchard’s hayrides are spook-free, so no need to fret about ensuing tears and nightmares. Take a ride to the (friendly!) witches’ house, where stories, jokes, and treats await, followed by a campfire with cider and marshmallow roasting. Tickets are $9. Halloween at the Please Touch Museum
Wear your best costume and say hello to friendly puppet pal Buster The Ghost and animal character Little Critter. Play dress up at Halloween-themed story times, wiggle at a dance party, and get treats for the whole family. All activities free with general admission.
