Ben Franklin, Phillie Phanatic and Other Philly Characters Come Together for Fellow Entertainer With Cancer
Professional actor Billy Edwards has spent the past 15 years entertaining Philadelphia as some of the city’s most beloved figures. He has worked as a costumed History Maker and Storyteller at Historic Philadelphia Inc., a Duck Boat guide at Ride the Ducks, a Santa at Macy’s Dickens’ Village, a Phanstormer for the Philadelphia Phillies, at Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary and much more.
Now, Billy is fighting for his life against pancreatic cancer and Philadelphia’s most famous mascots and historical impersonators are coming together for his benefit.
On Monday, October 27th, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Franklin Square Park, at 6th & Race Streets, will host “Philly Helps Billy!” a fundraiser for this prolific entertainer. The Phillie Phanatic, Ben Franklin, Betsy Ross, and Thomas Jefferson, along with friends and family, will head to Historic Philadelphia for an evening of Spooky Mini-Golf, carousel rides, and refreshments to raise money for their friend.
General admission tickets are $25, while “Angel Admission” gets you access to the event as well as your name on one of the mini-golf course’s 18 holes for the night. The benefit is cash-only, and all proceeds will benefit Billy Edwards. For more information, please email Art Ryan at artryan@historicphiladelphia.org.
