Iconic Writer Maya Angelou Is Dead at 86

We are sad to report that iconic writer, poet, and all-around inspiring woman Maya Angelou has died; she was 86.

Her agent, Helen Brann, reports that Angelou died close to her North Carolina home early this morning.

The award-winning author of multiple autobiographies, essays, and poetry, Dr. Angelou spoke several times in Philadelphia, including appearances at the University of Pennsylvania.
