Here’s a look at what we saw from the Eagles’ offense after having reviewed the All-22 tape from their win over the Giants Sunday night.
Andy Reid was vague when discussing his left tackle situation Wednesday. King Dunlap is back practicing after sitting out the last two games with a hamstring strain. Closer to when the injury first occurred, it appeared the job would go back to Dunlap when he was healthy. Bell has made progress since then, however, and the coaching staff was pleased with his performance against the Giants.
All things being equal, who is the starter?
Jeremy Maclin returned to the practice field Monday after missing last week’s game against the Cardinals with a hip injury.
Maclin’s absence was very much felt in the 27-6 loss in Arizona. Michael Vick, under constant pressure and struggling with his reads, could have used a safety blanket like Maclin on the outside.
It appears the receiving corps is on the mend. Riley Cooper also practiced Wednesday. Cooper, who is recovering from a fractured collarbone, said last week that he was targeting the Giants game for his return.
As Andy Reid stated, King Dunlap (hamstring), Akeem Jordan (hamstring), Jon Dorenbos (ankle) and Colt Anderson (knee) did not suit up Wednesday. One name not mentioned by the coach earlier in the day was Fletcher Cox, who appeared to be just a spectator at practice. Cox missed part of Sunday’s game because of a migraine.
This is DeSean Jackson‘s opportunity to make amends.
Hours before the Eagles and Cardinals kicked off at Lincoln Financial last season, news broke that Jackson had been told to stay home by Andy Reid after showing up late to multiple Saturday meetings. The sour attitude over his contract situation had finally caught up with him, and with the team. With the receiver out of the equation and Michael Vick playing with broken ribs, the Eagles fell 21-17. One more win that season and the Eagles would have won the division. There would be a different Super Bowl champ other than the Giants.
Jeremy Maclin did not practice Friday and is listed as out for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.
King Dunlap and Riley Cooper are also out. Everyone else practiced and should be ready to go, per Andy Reid.
Maclin re-injured his hip against the Ravens last week. He practiced in a limited capacity Thursday but shut it down on Friday.
By the sounds of it, rookie Damaris Johnson has been bumped up to take Maclin’s place.
Jeremy Maclin returned to the practice field Thursday and was listed as a limited participant after sitting Wednesday out.
The receiver was knocked out of the Ravens game with a hip pointer. He originally sustained the hip injury against the Browns in Week 1. Maclin said he was in a good deal of pain following Sunday’s game but has been making progress.
With Maclin returning, King Dunlap was the only member of the Eagles sidelined for Thursday’s practice. Dunlap is dealing with a hamstring strain and it’s considered a stretch to think he will be ready play against the Cardinals. Demetress Bell will likely get the start at left tackle in his place.
Colt Anderson (knee) did not practice Wednesday but was back as a full participant. DeSean Jackson (hamstring) was full-go as well after being limited the day before.

Last season, Frank Gore accused the Eagles of folding when the 49ers got physical with them.
“I think playing that second half and the way we came out, the Eagles didn’t want to play no more,” said Gore. “We just kept pounding and kept pounding and making plays and we kind of knocked the fight out of them.”
Their will power was further put into question as a result of blowing five fourth-quarter leads in 2011.
Sunday’s game against the Ravens was a step in the right direction away from that reputation. Not only did the Eagles win in come-from-behind fashion for the second straight week, but did so while playing a nasty brand of ball.
“They wanted to come out and push us around but we weren’t having that,” said DeMeco Ryans. “We had to fight back, bring the intensity and bring the fight to them.”
DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin were limited participants in Friday’s practice and are officially listed as questionable on the injury report.
Maclin suffered a hip flexor and hip pointer injury against the Browns in Week 1, while Jackson hurt his hamstring at the end of practice Wednesday. Andy Reid, when asked if one had a better chance of playing than the other, said their situations are about the same.
“They are running OK,” said Reid. “We just kind of took it easy on them today. They did a decent job today with the things that they were given, which wasn’t much.”
Here are observations on the Eagles’ offense after having looked at the All-22 coaches’ tape. DeSean Jackson had an impact even when he wasn’t catching the football.

As we mentioned earlier, Jeremy Maclin did not practice today.
Meanwhile, safety Kurt Coleman (facial lacerations), wide receiver Riley Cooper (fractured collarbone) and cornerback Curtis Marsh (hamstring) were limited. Andy Reid has already ruled Cooper out for Sunday’s game against the Ravens. Coleman was in the locker room before practice and sounded like he fully expected to play.
Jeremy Maclin’s status for Sunday’s home opener against the Ravens is up in the air, but he won’t practice today, Andy Reid said.
“He’s actually made progress here over the last couple days so that’s a good thing,” Reid said. “He’s feeling better. I wouldn’t list him as out today. That’s now how I’d list him, but he’s not going to practice.”
Earlier, I posted the game review of the Eagles offensive line.
