Clay Harbor Placed On Injured Reserve

Philadelphia Eagles TE Clay Harbor.Clay Harbor has been placed on injured reserve with a lower back injury, the team announced Tuesday. No corresponding move has been made as of yet.

Harbor sustained a back contusion on Thursday night against the Bengals.

The third-year tight end out of Missouri State finishes the season with 25 receptions for 188 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He was the primary tight end against Cincinnati as Brent Celek sat out with a concussion, and caught three passes for 30 yards.

Celek has been cleared to return and is expected to play against the Redskins Sunday. In his absence the Eagles activated Emil Igwenagu, who will likely get some playing time against Washington now that Harbor is out.

Eagles Wake-Up Call: Looking At Reid’s Last Home Game

Big moments have been few and far between during this the lost season, but we are approaching one.

Andy Reid is about to coach his last home game for the Philadelphia Eagles.

It is not an absolute but it is a cuticle shy of a slam dunk: Reid will not be back for a 15th season. That means the complex relationship between city and coach has just a couple more chances  to be played out publicly.

Injury Update: McCoy, Vick Not Ruled Out Yet

LeSean McCoy and Michael Vick are in Phase 5 of the rehab process from concussions suffered last month and returned to practice in a limited capacity today.

“We’re not listing them as out,” said head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder. “They’re still very much alive for things. We’ll see how they do today and take it day by day. Of course, they have to get through this fifth phase, they have to get to the independent [neurologist], which could be tomorrow, and they have to see [team doctor] Dr. [Gary] Dorshimer and get his clearance as well.”

Celek Suffers Concussion Against Bucs

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek. The Eagles are down yet another playmaker.

Brent Celek suffered a concussion on the very first play of the game against the Bucs Sunday. He is the third member of the offense to be sidelined by a head injury in recent weeks, joining Michael Vick and LeSean McCoy.

Celek was tackled by a pair of Tampa defenders after a modest gain and had trouble getting to his feet. He eventually walked off and was evaluated by trainers on the sidelines before heading inside.

Celek was replaced by Clay Harbor.

The offense has been ripped apart by injuries. Four-fifths of the offensive line is gone. Same with the starting quarterback, the starting running back and No. 1 wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who is on injured reserve with fractured ribs. And now, their tight end.

Nnamdi Asomugha left early in the second quarter with a neck and thigh injury. The veteran corner jumped up to make a play on the ball and was upended by Dallas Clark. Asomugha landed flat on his upper back and stayed down for some time before walking gingerly off the field.

Reid: ‘I Take It Personal’

Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid.Andy Reid is tired of answering the same question after every loss.

Does you expect to finish out the season as the Eagles’ head coach?

“I haven’t been told any different, so I’m going to keep going, but you can keep asking me because I appreciate those questions,” he said after the team’s 38-33 defeat to the Cowboys. “I’m sure you’ll be the first to know.”

Eagles Must Now Deal With Character Issues

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek. At this stage of the season, you are just looking for that flicker. Signs of anger and pain and resistance to the losing culture that has seeped through the walls.

The front office will be evaluating more than talent as they sift through the wreckage of this season. They will be evaluating effort, and resolve, and want-to. And that’s just sad.

“At the end of the day it’s about locker room accountability,” said a fired-up Troy Vincent after his Eagles Hall-of-Fame induction ceremony. “The talent is here. When you hear someone talking about play-calling, just play the call that has been made. I was asked a question about someone hustling; why are we talking about a professional hustling to the football?

“And people know, the third eye in the sky doesn’t lie.”

History will not look favorably on this 2012 team. They will be labeled underachievers and their character will come into question. It already has.

Eagles Wake-Up Call: Delusion Of Grandeur

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy.The first thing that needs to be altered is the Eagles’ self-perception.

This team is sinking like a stone. They have lost five straight and now sit at the bottom of the NFC East at 3-6. Over the past two seasons, the Eagles are a combined 11-14. They just suffered a 15-point home loss to the rival Cowboys in yet another desperation game played without desperation.

That has not stopped Andy Reid‘s club, though, from continuing to insist that they are stacked.

“I believe that once we get it all together, we should dominate,” said LeSean McCoy. “We have the players here and Coach [Reid] is a winning coach.”

Dominate?
