Reid: ‘I Take It Personal’

Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid.Andy Reid is tired of answering the same question after every loss.

Does you expect to finish out the season as the Eagles’ head coach?

“I haven’t been told any different, so I’m going to keep going, but you can keep asking me because I appreciate those questions,” he said after the team’s 38-33 defeat to the Cowboys. “I’m sure you’ll be the first to know.”

Making Sense Of the Vick Reports

There are multiple reports swirling around around about Michael Vick‘s ongoing recovery from a concussion sustained on November 11 against the Cowboys.

The first suggested that Vick’s symptoms are getting worse and that he could miss the rest of the season. The most recent says that the quarterback believes the Eagles are using his concussion to allow them to continue to start rookie Nick Foles, and has “complained of being the victim of politics.”

Eagles Wake-Up Call: Babin Laughed When He Got the Call

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Jason BabinJason Babin hit the national media circuit after being cut by the Eagles on Tuesday.

Some of his most interesting comments came on ESPN radio, where he described his reaction when Andy Reid delivered the news by phone.

“One, anytime you see Andy Reid come across your caller ID, you know it’s probably not a good thing,” said Babin. “Two, all I could do was — I laughed. I was like, ‘Alright, Coach, if that’s what you’ve got to do.’ I don’t know, caught me off guard.”

Reid Reaches Point Of No Return

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy ReidJeffrey Lurie emerged from the shadows briefly Monday night to help celebrate Troy Vincent and Leo Carlin‘s induction into the Eagles Hall of Fame.

After recognizing the two honorees Lurie handed the floor over to Vincent, who was promptly steered into talking about the ails of the 2012 club.

“I just see a lack of leadership,” Vincent began, the owner just a few paces to his left. Not even in a celebration of the past could the woes of the present be avoided. Lurie stood there and absorbed it all before heading back underground.

That was how the night started. It ended with a 30-22 loss to the Panthers, pushing the losing streak to seven games and the Eagles into basement of the NFC. Most significantly, it put the Eagles’ loss total on the year at eight games. Lurie stated that 8-8 would not be good enough for Andy Reid to earn a 15th season. Reid can now do no better.

Eagles Wake-Up Call: Too Early To Rule On Foles

It was dangerous to make any sweeping judgments about Nick Foles after a few preseason games. It is equally dangerous to label him following six-plus quarters of regular-season play.

That hasn’t stopped a whole slew of fans and pundits alike from jumping right off the Foles train, of course. From Chosen One to just another bum, in 90 minutes flat.

Before you write him off completely, take a look at how the other rookie quarterbacks performed in their first starts this season:

Eagles Wake-Up Call: Bryce Brown Gets His Chance

Philadelphia Eagles running back Bryce BrownLeSean McCoy doesn’t like to take a breather.

He’s played 610 snaps on the season, the most of any running back in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus. McCoy led the league in playing time last year as well.

But on Monday night, the Eagles will see what life’s like without McCoy, as the running back continues to recover from a concussion he sustained during the final two minutes of last week’s loss to the Redskins. McCoy just turned 24 in July. He’ll continue to carry the load for years to come. But it’s still important for the Eagles to find the right back to complement his talents.

Enter Bryce Brown.

With Vick Improving, Big Decision Looms

Eagles quarterback Michael VickThe news on Michael Vick Saturday was very positive. He is now symptom free and has moved into Phase 3 of the Eagles’ concussion program, where he can resume normal lifting with the strength coaches and take part in more intense workouts. Head trainer Rick Burkholder anticipates that Vick will return to non-contact football-related activities as early as Sunday.

While he still needs to pass the IMPACT test and be cleared by both an independent neurologist and team doctors, it is conceivable that Vick will be healthy enough to play in the near future.

The Eagles — and Vick — must decide on how to proceed from there.
