Vacation Season is Car Show Season in Cumberland Valley, Pennsylvania

A car guy’s playground lies just two hours west of Philadelphia. For more than 40 years, Carlisle Events has invited car and truck enthusiasts to the 150-acre Carlisle Fairgrounds in Cumberland Valley, Pennsylvania. The area has gained worldwide attention as a destination for automotive hobbyists. This summer, Carlisle has four more shows before the season slips away. The family-friendly shows include vehicle displays, parts vendors, burn-out contests, giveaways, beauty contests, demonstrations, stunt shows, live music, special guests, and specific activities designed for women and children. Find nearby camping, RVing, and a selection of motels and hotels; then load up and make it a weekend getaway.

Whether you prefer a polished classic, a street racer, or a dolled-up big rig, Carlisle has an event for you this summer.

Carlisle Chrysler Nationals, July 10-12

It’s all Mopar, all weekend. More than 2,500 Chrysler vehicles from every era will be present. The classics, muscle cars, and high-performance new models will be on display, organized by year, make, and model. For those in need of a part, there’ll be a swap meet, multiple vendors, the Car Corral, and Manufacturers Midway. Arrive early for the weekend kickoff on Thursday night, July 9, when country duo Thompson Square takes the stage.

Carlisle Performance & Style, July 17-19

This motorsports and lifestyle festival is the go-to resource for the hottest trends in motorsports. Admire more than 2,000 customized vehicles lined up for your viewing pleasure. The event kicks off Friday night with a cruise-in and “Low-Car Limbo.” Demonstrations, competitions, and hands-on activities continue throughout the weekend.

Carlisle Truck Nationals, August 7-9

A truck guy’s paradise comes to Cumberland Valley the second weekend of August. Whether you’re traveling with a group of friends for a guys’ weekend or you want to bring the wife and kids for a family adventure, the Truck Nationals entertain every age and interest. Lowered minitrucks, lifted 4x4s, big rigs, SUVs, custom vans, and restored classics are all found at the fairgrounds. Children 12 years old and younger are admitted free. They will enjoy making crafts and playing inside the Kids at Carlisle Activity Center. The monster truck show is always a favorite for families. In addition to watching the show, attendees can climb up into the monster trucks for a ride. And don’t miss the monster transformers, Megasaurus and Transaurus. They have been known to chew, burn, and destroy small cars in their paths. Shopping opportunities, concerts, and celebrity guests round out the action-packed event.

Corvettes at Carlisle, August 28-30

Your last-chance summer show is all about Corvettes. With more than 5,000 Corvettes present, Carlisle has the largest Corvette event in the world. Corvette owners participate in autocross, burn-out competitions, and a parade of more than 400 Corvettes through historic downtown Carlisle. Legendary car builder Chip Foose will sign autographs inside MagnaFlow’s VIP Paddock. For those shopping for a ’Vette of their own, the Car Corral has all makes, models, and conditions.
