These 4 Philly-Favorite Mexican Spots Are Open for Takeout and Delivery
You may not be able to go out this weekend, but having tacos and beer delivered to your door? That might be even better. If you know where to order, eating in can be just as fun as eating out. Fortunately, according to Open for Takeout (a database of local restaurants that are still taking orders) many of Philly’s favorite Mexican restaurants are open for business and serving up all the ingredients of a perfect fiesta, from authentic burritos to ice-cold brews. To help you start planning your celebration-at-home, here are our top Mexican joints doing takeout and delivery.
Tacqueria Feliz
With rave reviews from the major media institutions about town, and a chef who trained under Jose Garces, you’ll always have something new to try from Taqueria Feliz, while never feeling out of your comfort zone. It has a customizable, accessible menu based around classic Mexican staples—from tacos and taco bowls to enchiladas—and a range of traditional and fusion fillers. Go healthy with a cauliflower or brussel sprouts taco bowl, or indulge with a carnitas-topped burger or a cheesesteak quesadilla. Tell them you heard about the Manayunk Cares promo for their deal of the day. Deliveries available through GrubHub and UberEats. 267-331-5874
Loco Pez
An easygoing tacqueria and cerveceria (or brewery), Loco Pez offers modernized L.A.-style Mexican street fare that you’ll still feel hip while indulging in. The menu is mostly simple mix ‘n match: pick a delivery system—whether taco, burrito, quesadilla, enchilada or chimichanga—and a filling, which range from al pastor (pork) to seitan and spinach. But if you really feel a need to celebrate (or relieve some stress) and you’re looking to eat like a younger version of yourself, Loco Pez offers an El Vaquero, or “cowboy,” menu, with Americanized dishes like a volcano burrito, hard shell taco and even a jalapeno chili dog. With locations in Fishtown, West Philly and Graduate Hospital open for delivery and takeout orders online, by phone or through Caviar, ordering should be just as easy as the eating. 215-796-9890
The Adobe Cafe
Adobe Café, which has locations in both the Roxborough and Bella Vista neighborhoods, has been a Philly favorite for more than 25 years, with a beloved staff and loyal customers. Even if you can’t stop in for a visit, you can participate from afar thanks to the special deals they’ve rolled out for delivery and takeout only. From a big menu with vegetarian and gluten-free options and a wide range of fillers, from crab to duck to mole chicken, the Adobe Café is offering specials you can only get during social distancing, like $5 burritos everyday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. 215-483-3947 (Roxborough), 215-551-2243 (Bella Vista)
El Barrio Cantina & Tequila Bar
El Barrio translates to “the neighborhood” in Spanish, and this modern, relaxed cantina is a neighborhood staple. Authentic Mexican cuisine is made from scratch with a modern flair, with elevated classics like short rib enchiladas and chicken mole. Check out the extensive taco menu with filler options like wild mushroom, grilled shrimp, and both salmon and tilapia fish tacos. Perhaps most importantly, a dedicated bottle shop offers a wide range of brews for pick up. Along with their daily specials, including taco Tuesday, take advantage of their happy hour at home deal: half off all appetizers and take-home growlers. 267-685-0725
