How to Score an Uber-Exclusive Preview to the Philadelphia Flower Show
The PHS Flower Show is back in a big way, everyone. The pinnacle of floral fetes, the event is celebrating the National Park Service this year. The theme: “Explore America,” a nod to iconic parks like Acadia and Cape Cod, Valley Forge and Shenandoah, Yellowstone and Yosemite (you know, the biggies). Housed inside the Pennsylvania Convention Center and running from March 5th through 13th, the 2016 Flower Show is slated to be its best yet, counting floral arranging tutorials, gardening presentations, special events and an indoor marketplace amongst its array of programming.
However, the best way to see the blooms before anyone and gain access to a super-exclusive event is by nabbing tickets to the preview party.
Before the event is accessible to the public, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society hosts a black-tie fundraiser to benefit community greening initiatives, and this year, the highly-anticipated soiree will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Attendees get premium access to the spectacular horticultural displays, as well as a swift award presentation (these floral and landscape designers are killer, guys), a sumptuous selection of food and cocktails, live music courtesy of Sparkle Pony, and extended hours to the show. Guests will also have the chance to rub elbows with Matt Rader, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s new president.
Plus if you snag tickets, you’ll be in good company. Past attendees include Prince Albert of Monaco, Tory Burch, ambassadors, diplomats and a bevy of other politicians, business and community leaders. For the 2016 event, Thomas C. Woodward, Pennsylvania Market President for Bank of America, has been tapped as the Chair of the Preview Party. Plus, Pennsylvania’s First Lady, Frances D. Wolf, and Dorrance “Dodo” Hamilton (she’s won over 1,000 blue ribbons at the Flower Show’s Horticourt!) will be honorary chairs.
