They Created Their Dream Home, Thanks to This Local Lender
Lori Herrmann followed her heart to a new home in late 2016. She met the man of her dreams and moved into his home of thirty years in Perkasie Bucks County. “My husband is a widower and I’m divorced. It was either sell the house and start something new on our own or renovate this one.” Together, they decided to stay and build new memories in the home that once housed all of her husband’s kids, who were now scattered across the United States. “I love that my husband’s kids can still come home to their family home. It’s lovely and I love living here,” Lori explains.
The home, which sits on six stunning acres of countryside, had great bone structure but needed a little TLC to bring its décor and amenities into the 21st century. “The kitchen was literally thirty years old—it was going to be a hard sell,” Lori explains. Lori looked to Allied Mortgage Group to make the details of her dream home a reality. The couple decided to refinance the mortgage with a cash out option to renovate the entire first floor of the home. Lori, who had worked in titles and mortgages for more than thirty years had heard of Allied Mortgage Group and knew they were a well-trusted and respected lender in the Philadelphia area.
Allied’s Jeff Giglio went out to assess the property and take their application. While there, he gathered all of the documents and intel he needed to make the process go as smoothly and streamlined as possible. “There was absolutely no inconvenience to us,” says Lori. “Jeff made the whole process very, very easy and knew exactly what he needed upfront based on our circumstances.” Jeff stayed in touch with the couple through regular phone calls and kept the lines of communication open and the process transparent. “Not once was I sitting there wondering if they needed something or if any changes were made. The hands-on approach was so different from anything I’d experienced with lenders in the past,” Lori explains.
Within a month, the couple’s loan was approved and settlement complete. “Renovating a home is stressful enough, so having no unwanted surprises when it came to settlement was key and allowed us to focus on the redesign,” Lori shares. From there came the really fun part — the newlyweds began to design and construct their dream home. They tore out a bathroom and rebuilt a larger one where the laundry room once sat. They painted and re-floored the whole first level. They added two decks and pergolas to the outside of the home and pool area. They transformed the dining room into an office space for Lori to focus on building her small gift basket business. And last but certainly not least, they remodeled the whole kitchen, which Lori now claims as her favorite spot in house. “The kitchen is now a hub for entertaining. It’s so big and spacious and we spend so much time in there, together as a family,” she says. The end goal was for Lori to feel more at home in her new house and for the couple to build a new life together. They both admit they couldn’t be happier with their experience with Allied or their new digs. “The whole process was a labor of love,” she says while smiling.
