Bets, Brunch and the Birds: Why South Philly Will Be an Activity Hub This Fall
There are certain signifiers that fall is in the air. Once September rolls around, it’s once again time to cheer on the Eagles, indulge in some good food and embrace the season. And what better place to do that than in South Philly? The neighborhood is home to some of the best food and festivals in the city, and you can find it all and more at Live! Casino & Hotel. If you don’t want to miss out on the fall fun, don’t fret — we put together a list of experiences you won’t want to miss out on.
Celebrate Chinese Culture and the Changing of Seasons
Throughout September and October, Luk Fu, Live! Casino’s Asian fusion restaurant, will showcase its Chinese Moon Festival installation. The Chinese Moon Festival is the second-most important Chinese holiday after the New Year, and it’s celebrated by East and Southeast Asian people across the region.
Luk Fu is honoring the 3,000-year history of the festival with hanging lanterns, moon centerpieces and beautiful sparkling stars throughout the restaurant. Don’t miss specialty glittering cocktails, sake selections, and food offerings including sushi and Luk Fu’s signature rolls. And since the restaurant is also celebrating through October, you have plenty of time to dine in this unique and festive environment.
A Classic Goes Casual
Prime Rib has long been one of Philly’s favorite destinations for see-and-be-seen dining. And this past summer, it expanded its portfolio inside Live! Casino, adding brunch to its repertoire. Every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a chef-driven brunch menu features crab cake eggs benedict, a lobster BLT, prime-aged steak and eggs and duck confit hash. It’s all served in a wood-paneled backdrop, so you can have a low-key meal in a high-key setting. Plus, a great perk during Eagles home games: If you show your Live! self-park receipt during brunch hours at Prime Rib, you’ll receive $25 off your meal.
What’s more, it’s not really brunch without some booze. Prime Rib has that covered, serving Pear Tree Bellinis and a Sunday Surprise, a tequila and blood orange-based cocktail. And if you’re wondering, yes, Prime Rib also has avocado toast.
Root for the Eagles and Win Big
NFL Sundays are sacred in Philly. Our plans for how and where we cheer on the Eagles have to be planned well in advance. If you’re looking for a top-notch game day setup, Sports & Social inside Live! Casino is the place to be, anchored by a 52-foot LED display, arcade games and 24 TVs. Peruse the beer selection and sip some suds, and if you’re feeling lucky, place a wager at the FanDuel Sportsbook & Lounge. Sports & Social also offers all the favorites you’d expect at a sports bar, from burgers and wings to large pretzels and sliders.
And when the Eagles are playing, Sports & Social comes alive with live entertainment, giveaways such as jerseys and game tickets as well as halftime contests. It’s all backdropped by rally towels and foam fingers, so you can show your team spirit. Pro tip: If you’re one of the first 50 guests to arrive for an away game, you’ll get a free beer and a gift, and you can enjoy special gameday bundles with beer buckets, nachos and wings.
Sports & Social also hasn’t forgotten about college football fans — if you wear your collegiate gear on gameday , you’ll receive specials such as $15 beer buckets, $6 city wides , $10 cheesesteak nachos and $4 domestic beer.
