5 Events at the 2016 Philadelphia Flower Show You Don’t Want to Miss
Thanks to some unseasonably warm temperatures as of late, we have to admit: we’re already hankering for springtime. And the best way to welcome the season, of course, is with a pilgrimage to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s annual Philadelphia Flower Show. Taking place March 5th through 13th (you can buy tickets here!), the event is pulling out all the stops with five can’t-be-missed events. Here are our top picks.
Cabin Fever Country Hoedown, Saturday, March 5 // Winter is almost over, friends! Celebrate accordingly by heading to the Flower Show for an evening of live music and dancing. The hoedown is in partnership with 92.5 XTU, so you can be positive that they’ll play your favorite country tunes. The event is from 4pm to 7pm at Base Camp.
Wedding Wednesday, Wednesday, March 9 // Start planning your pending nuptials with a visit to Philadelphia Wedding’s Wedding Wednesday. Held in the Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom, the event celebrates all things wedding-related with a bevy of experts from industries including bridal fashion, catering, music and photography. Meanwhile, attendees can sip champagne and nosh on small bites. (Psst: Wedding Wednesday ticket includes admission to the Flower Show!)
Flowers After Hours, Thursday, March 10 // Gain exclusive entrance to the Flower Show by seeing it after hours. The Flower Show invites folks ages 21 and up for live entertainment, Quizzo, cocktail and beer tastings, and evening access to the Flower Show. Entry is $20 for students and $27 for young professionals. Or, you can also nab tickets to the early happy hour at Field House for an additional $10. Hint: this is an awesome date idea.
Fido Friday, Friday, March 11 // Subaru and PAWS are joining forces to allow pooches into the Flower Show during this special event. Guests can imbibe during a “Yappy Hour” from 6pm to 7pm at the Pop Up Beer Garden. Don’t have a dog? Shake paws with National Park Service’s “Bark” Ranger, Ken Franklin, during the day before the pooch parade begins. We promise: this is so much better than your typical afternoon walk with Rover.
The Flower Shower Jamboree, Sunday, March 13 // If you’ll be toting little ones on your floral adventure, then be sure to visit on Sunday for The Flower Show Jamboree. There, families can enjoy Teddy Bear Tea with Buddy the Bison, mascot of the National Park Trust, or take a photo with Thomas the Tank Engine. Children can also take part in a bunch of family-friendly events, ranging from a Railway Garden, powered by Amtrak with Bachmann Trains, to a butterfly exhibit (read about ‘em here!).
