Attention, Local Designers: Wanna Sell Your Stuff in Joan Shepp?
Local designers, better start getting your portfolios ready. Starting next month (which is in just three days WHERE DID SUMMER GO?), Joan Shepp is kicking off its very first designer residency program. Exciting, right? Let’s dig into the details.
Unlike Macy’s Philadelphia Fashion Incubator, which is an intense year-long residency, Shepp’s program is on a rolling one-month basis. Each month, the Shepp team will choose two designers. For three weeks, these designers will display their collections in the store, talk with customers and — here’s the best part — collect any and all proceeds from residency sales.
Apparel and accessory designers can apply by submitting a resume, 300-word statement (this should outline your “design philosophy, eligibility for consideration and long-term business objectives”) and a lookbook/images of your collection. Email these to submissions@joanshepp.com with the subject line “Joan Shepp Emerging Designer Residency.” Email by the third Thursday of the month for consideration for the following month. Good luck, and we’ll see you on the store floor.
