The Retail Rumor Mill: Is Banana Republic Coming to Chestnut Street?

Over on Naked Philly, there are the beginnings of rumblings about a Banana Republic opening at 1911 Chestnut Street, right across from the Boyd Theater. This news comes from very reputable sources, i.e. “two dudes sitting on coolers outside the space.”

Yes, we’ve already got a Banana at Broad and Walnut. The site speculates that the store could either be a second location or a westward move for the company. In any case, there’s this:

“According to the L&I Map, plans for the space include retail and apparel and accessory uses.”

I’ll keep you posted as I hear more. In the meantime, get excited for the confirmed Chestnut openings of UNIQLO and Nordstrom Rack.
