Just Listed: Renovated Contemporary in Cherry Hill
A realtor with a passion for art and artistry in construction stages another gallery exhibition in her latest renovation.
The latest round of COVID-19 restrictions in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey have shut down the museums and art galleries once again. But that doesn’t mean that you must restrict your gallery-hopping to virtual exhibits.
That’s because Jung Taesook — who conducts her real estate business as Tess Son — has launched another of her art exhibits disguised as tours of a house for sale.
In contrast to the last exhibition of hers that we featured in Cherry Hill, the exhibition now on display in this renovated Cherry Hill contemporary house for sale is a multi-artist event.
Of course, you will find works from Jung’s “Vigorous Life” series on display here (the large multi-panel work in the living room appears in the photo above). But in addition to her pointillist abstract work, you will also find works in a wide range of styles, from impressionistic to postmodern, all by Korean-American artists, on display in the rooms of this house.
But it’s not stretching things to call Jung’s renovation of this 1980s contemporary a work of art as well. While the artistry in most of the rooms you see pictured here hangs from their walls, you can also see plenty of evidence of Jung’s creativity in a number of places — not to mention the quality of her work.
It starts in the foyer, where a polished light wood door opens into a two-story foyer with a staircase whose railing brings to mind the “Bird’s Nest” stadium built for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Then there’s the use of bold color in the dining areas and kitchen.
The dominant shade of blue echoes one of the shades in the work on display in the living room, providing a perhaps unplanned thematic tie.
But as the kitchen should make clear. Jung is not afraid to use color contrasts to add ”vigorous life” to a room. On the practical side, this kitchen is very well equipped with top-drawer Samsung appliances, including a wine chiller, a smart refrigerator, oven, microwave, and gas cooktop, all of which can be controlled from your smartphone via Wi-Fi.
(So can the ceiling fan in the primary bedroom, the climate control system and the garage door openers. In other words, this is one very smart house.)
Sharply pitched vaulted ceilings also add visual drama to several rooms in this house, including the first-floor den and the second-floor primary bedroom.
That bedroom has a large walk-in closet with an equally large window that could conceivably double as work space, and it has a spacious bathroom where turquoise hexagonal tile provides vibrancy.
Again on the practical side, the primary bathroom contains a shower with body sprays, a handheld wand a rain shower head and a blue herringbone-tile accent wall.
There’s artistry at work in the backyard too, where a wraparound deck looks out on planter beds, trees and bamboo stands.
All the works of art on display in this Cherry Hill contemporary house for sale are available for purchase. So, of course, is the house itself. Just think: You can buy a very beautifully renovated house and get a head start on decorating it in a single visit.

OTHER STUFF: The street on which this house sits is filled with 1980s contemporaries, of which this one is now the most striking, but the real estate databases have it misspelled as “Rue du Boise.” (Since the Idaho capital’s name is also derived from the French word for “woods,” this may perhaps be forgiven.) This house’s sale price was reduced by $10,000 on Dec. 5th.
