Just Listed: Hilltop Colonial in Uhlerstown
The leaves are beginning their annual fall spectacular right about now. You'll enjoy a front-row seat for the show and all the changes of the seasons from this handsome house's expansive backyard.
Today’s featured house is just the place for those who want to live above it all but don’t have the huge budget one normally needs to do that.
With this handsome Colonial house for sale in the Uhlerstown section of upper Bucks County’s Tinicum Township, you’ll be living above it all because it’s perched atop Uhlerstown Hill, next to the Delaware River floodplain. The hilltop site affords you panoramic views of the Delaware River valley and the hills across the river in New Jersey. In the winter, you should even be able to see nearby Frenchtown and its historic bridge.
This classic Colonial is all of 33 years old, but the detailing and style inside will trick you into thinking you’ve just bought a historic farmhouse. The Swedish oak floors, the grayish-blue paint on the window frames and dining room chair rail, the wood-burning fireplace in the family room, the stenciling around the doorways, and even the decorative wood-burning cookstove in the basement family room all convey the message that this house has seen plenty of changing seasons.
Yet it’s totally up to date with modern conveniences and creature comforts, including newer kitchen appliances in the combined kitchen/breakfast room/family room.
The master suite has another nice creature comfort: a master bathroom with a separate, vanity-equipped dressing room.
And this house also has a temperature-controlled wine cellar. Based on the listing photo, I’ll wager that this house’s owners love do-it-yourself projects and have a great sense of humor.
But the nicest amenity of all has to be this house for sale’s expansive rear deck, one floor above the ground off the everyday living suite. Right now, the trees are putting on their annual Technicolor extravaganza, and you can watch the show every day here. And once the leaves have departed, you can get a glimpse down into the valley.
Getting there from here, or here from there, may prove to be a bit of a challenge, though. It’s located on a quiet lane with only one outlet — Uhlerstown Hill Road. According to Google Maps, that road is one-way uphill from the covered bridge at its base, and from that covered bridge to River Road and the Frenchtown bridge, it’s closed from December through April. You and your visitors will likely have to drive for a mile or two on Upper Tinicum Church Road before finding a road that will connect you to River Road, the main highway through this part of Bucks, all the time. But you’re looking in this part of Bucks in order to get away from it all, aren’t you? Enabling it all to reach you easily sort of defeats the purpose of your search.
