On the Market: The Most Expensive House for Sale in Montco Right Now
Just relisted: this sprawling, tricked-out Tudor Revival estate in Villanova that looks like those early-20th-century palaces but is only 18 years young.
I did a double take when I ran across this listing and saw the construction date for this huge Tudor Revival house for sale in Villanova.
“2001?” I said to myself. “That house looks about a century older than that.”
So, folks, here’s proof that they can, and do, still build ’em like they used to.
The only difference being that they use modern materials and techniques. That, and they put in lots of modern bells and whistles up here in the stratosphere. Even if they come cloaked in traditional dress.
The mansion you see above is the product of two Main Line legends, architect Fred Bissinger and builder Edwin Mahoney. Both take pride in using the materials and methods of the present to produce fresh interpretations of the past.
They sure succeeded here.
Take a look at the interior spaces. They are all polished, elegant and sumptuous — but not over-the-top.
You should, however, also note the features they added to satisfy 21st-century tastes. Like the home theater with bar and the golf simulator in the game room, both in the basement.
Or the top-drawer appliances in the kitchen.
The exterior spaces are every bit as sumptuous, with lushly landscaped terraces and gardens. But you’ll have to head out to Villanova to see them for yourself.
Like all of those grand old mansions, this grand new one is built for entertaining in style. I hope this house for sale lands in the hands of the right charitable fundraiser.
