5 Waterside Jersey Shore Homes for Under $1 Million

You'll live either in a high-rise condo or by the bay, but yes, you can do this.

In yesterday’s Jersey Shore roundup, we presented five fabulous Shore homes right by the ocean or bay.

Of course, we’d all love to be millionaires so we could buy those homes. Today, we have good news for many of you who aren’t: You can still buy a home by the beach or the bay in most of the South Jersey shore towns.

There are some catches, though. If what you want is a home by the ocean, you will live in a high-rise condo overlooking the beach. These have their advantages, like nice community amenities, but you won’t have your own plot of land. If that’s what you want, you will be living by the bay. Or, in the case of one of these featured homes, over it.

9100 Beach #1606, Margate (above) | 2 beds, 2 baths, 1,156 square feet, $590,000

On a clear day, you can see forever — or at least all the way to Longport — from this high-floor condo in the Island House. And on a cloudy one, you can at least look down on Margate’s most famous landmark, Lucy the elephant, located in the next block down from you. This contemporary condo is so close to the beach, its address reflects that fact. When you’re not lounging on your balcony or on the beach itself, you will no doubt be taking advantage of this building’s many amenities, including a beachside pool, a fitness center, and a large party room, along with storage space for your beach equipment. There’s also 24/7 concierge service to boot.

111 S. 16th Ave. #312, Longport | 1 bed, 1 bath, square footage unavailable, $230,000

Yes, you can live by the ocean in Longport, Atlantic County’s prestige beachfront community, for less than $300,000. This “junior” one-bedroom unit in the Longport Seaview condominium has been nicely maintained, and its balcony has been enclosed so you can enjoy it all year, rain or shine. The building is located in Longport’s “Point” section, which means that not only is the ocean right outside, the bay is at the other end of the block. The building boasts a raft of nice amenities, including a beachside pool with beach access and a restaurant.

The monthly condo fee (unavailable) includes not only common area and exterior maintenance but also electricity, heating, cooling and Wi-Fi. A similar unit on a higher floor, Unit 505, is being marketed by the same brokerage for $299,000.

2407 Oberon Ave., 2nd Floor, Longport | 3 beds, 2 baths, square footage unavailable, $699,000

How close would you like to be to the Great Egg Harbor Inlet and Beach Thorofare? Is right on top of it close enough? This bayfront home is a rarity in that it’s built on pilings that extend out into the bay, and those pilings and the bulkhead were recently replaced. Thanks to its location, you enjoy water views on three sides of your condo, including one of the bridge that connects to Somers Point and Ocean City. Your unit has plenty of large windows and sliding glass doors to take in that view, and there’s a fireplace in your living room for comfort in colder weather. And because you’re at the upper end of the Point, the beach is only a block and a half away.

3616 Sounds, Sea Isle City | 5 beds, 4 baths, square footage unavailable, $815,000

Love to watch the sunset? (We sure do.) This handsome duplex gives you plenty of viewing opportunities from its three bay-facing decks. (Two more decks on the side let you get a glimpse of it.) With five spacious bedrooms, this large five-level home can accommodate both your family and your friends who come down to visit. Two of those five bedrooms are master suites: one on the first floor with direct access to the dock and boat slip and one up top with great bay views. Another bedroom includes a sleeping loft. And between the garage and the off-street parking, you and your guests will have a place to stow their cars.

This home is being sold partly furnished. Sea Isle City says it will dredge the inlet this home faces within the next two years.
