Stone Lovely in Perkasie for $290K
Colonial details, a classic farmhouse facade and lots of great modern creature comforts make this a singularly appealing package.
In our search for a Bucks County home to feature in this department this week, we plowed through thumbnail photos of plenty of sad-looking bargains before we stumbled across this attractive classic Pennsylvania farmhouse.
Then we clicked on the thumbnail and saw we’d been fooled: This only looks like a classic Pennsylvania farmhouse on the front. That stone facade covers two homes in a townhouse community in Perkasie. But since the builders of this community did such a good job faking the genuine article, we decided we should take a look inside and see if they did an equally impressive job there.
Turns out they did. Inside, this home has all the hallmarks of a traditional Colonial save a center entrance hall. Crown moldings, chair rails and wainscoting abound, and the color scheme and large windows make the home feel light and airy.
But as its layout should make clear, this home is built for modern living and entertaining. The dining room with its built-in buffet and the kitchen with its quartzite-topped island form a single open space that makes both casual and formal dining easy. (That the kitchen has loads of counter and storage space helps too.)
The finished basement downstairs cries out for you to have your friends over to enjoy it. Its custom-built bar, with its stone face, granite top, bar mirror and display shelves, will make your guests feel like they’re in an exclusive club. (They are — your own.)
Its master bedroom mixes Colonial elements with contemporary features like a vaulted ceiling to create a space like few we’ve seen at this price point. The master bathroom is equally sumptuous. There’s even a calming mural of a mountain lake in one of the other two bedrooms.
Then there’s its location, conveniently situated between the heart of Perkasie and the heart of Doylestown. That gives you quick access to two of Bucks County’s finest towns and a wealth of shopping, dining and cultural attractions.
