La Salle to Build New Fitness Center and Campus Store

Philadelphia’s La Salle University announced today that it plans to build a new campus store and health and fitness center on its main campus in North Philadelphia. The 10,000 square foot building will also feature a cafe or market accessible from both the one-story store and two-story fitness center.

The building will be located between the university’s Connelly Library and its Hayman Center athletic complex, on Olney Avenue. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer and wrap up by spring 2015.

Cost is estimated to fall somewhere between $4 million and $5 million. The architect is the Baltimore firm Hord Coplan Macht, which has done a number of other education projects.
