More, More, More Urban Outfitters Expansion
On the heels of its announcement of a planned lifestyle complex in Devon, Pa., Urban Outfitters has had its Navy Yard headquarters expansion plans formally endorsed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania today. Its further adaptive reuse of historic property at the site, articulated in the Navy Yard’s Master Plan update by Robert A.M. Stern, will bring 2,000 new jobs to the Yard. At a press conference, founder and CEO Dick Hayne said,
“Governor (Tom) Corbett’s commitment and leadership was evidenced by his administration working with numerous local and regional economic development agencies. There was seamless support and unified effort with his leadership at the top. We look forward to URBN’s continued rapid growth and the resulting increase of the number of jobs for Pennsylvanians.”
Urban will also open a shipping site in Gap, Pa., which will employ 500 people.
