About
At George School, we’re brighter together.
Our academic experience is a collective effort to cultivate each student’s highest ambitions. The
George School Academic Program empowers teachers to be bold, creative, and collaborative. It empowers students to choose their own challenges: the IB diploma, IB courses, APs, adventurous opportunities for global study, artistic expression, service learning, and more. The result: an education that gives students the freedom and the support to become their most authentic selves.
Our Quaker values—centuries old, always relevant—are a force for good. They lead us to serve, to advocate for equity and justice and peace, to take responsibility for ourselves and our environment, to seek the inner light within every person and make space for it to shine.
Our graduates have sharp minds, big hearts, and a global consciousness. They’re humble and
hard-working, independent and purpose-driven, seriously joyful and joyfully serious, and focused on making the world a little better every day.
These qualities make us who we are: a singular school with transformative power,
living proof that we shine brighter together.
What is your teaching or educational philosophy?
The George School Academic Program is backed by current research and built for flexibility and innovation. Students can be themselves even as they work towards transformative growth. Faculty can create unique interdisciplinary courses that energize the classroom. The program gives every member of our community the agency to be daring—to carve their own paths, their own passions, their most authentic selves.
As a Quaker community, we celebrate diversity, practice empathy, and recognize our global citizenship. We empower our students to become responsible, compassionate, and courageous leaders who will positively impact our collective future.
What is your mission statement?
With Quaker tradition as its touchstone and academic excellence at its core, George School seeks to develop citizen scholars cheerfully committed to openness in the pursuit of truth, to service and peace, and to the faithful stewardship of the earth. We want our students to treasure learning for its own sake and to use it to benefit a diverse world. Above all, we want them to “let their lives speak.”
