The Super-Stylish and Glamorous Wedding of a Philly Custom Suitmaker

Xavi Row Bespoke’s Leroy West designed his own tux, shirt and shoes, then did the same for his groomsmen, too.

Your wedding (and all of the surrounding festivities) should be all about embracing your personal style — whatever that means to you. Maybe you’re hyper-focused on the decor. Maybe food is your thing. Or, perhaps, it’s your ensembles, like for this super-chic couple. The groom is the owner of Best of Philly-winning suit shop Xavi Row Bespoke, and he designed his and his groomsmen’s tuxedos, shirts and shoes. There were some costume changes (for the bride and groom) and some major photo moments. Armando Lara snapped the fashionable Falls Banquet wedding below.

It was written in the stars that Germantown couple Yolanda Patterson and Leroy West would have a fashion-forward wedding. After all, he’s the custom-suit designer behind Xavi Row Bespoke. And when they first met (through mutual friends in college) Yolanda, a licensed practical nurse, was impressed by his vibe.

“He walked into the room with a suit, confidence and the most charming smile I’ve ever seen,” she says. And Leroy loved her style and red hair. Their first date took them to Continental Mid-town and the Ranstead Room, and was followed by nearly five years of dating before Leroy popped the question — by staging a chic photo shoot at Morris Arboretum in June 2020. They dated for another year and three months before saying “I do” at the Falls Banquet, a picturesque Bucks County venue complete with a tree-lined outdoor ceremony area and a sleek indoor event space. Some 100 friends and family members were on hand for the celebration, with a large virtual contingent via Wedfuly as well. (The couple had initially hoped to invite 300 attendees but kept their guest list smaller due to concerns surrounding COVID.)

And everyone was, naturally, dressed to the nines. Yolanda donned a Martin Thornburg gown for the ceremony and a fun frock from Andrea Pitter for the reception. And Leroy not only designed his own tuxedo, shoes and shirts — including his purple-hued tux No. 2 — but those for his groomsmen, too.

Equally glam: the decor, one of Leroy’s favorite parts. “We planned for everything all year, but you still don’t expect to see how amazing everything looks when it’s put together,” he says. Yolanda agrees, pinpointing the floral design by Ury’s: “From the outdoor ceremony to the reception, Ury’s created an amazing ambience.”

Among the unique decor elements was the sweetheart table and cascading-flower backdrop, staged in front of the Falls’s indoor waterfall. The cake and dessert display was another gorgeous element, complete with its own floral arch and gold accents.

The biggest surprise? The fireworks at the end of the night. “Our guests couldn’t stop talking about it for weeks,” says Leroy.

By the way, the wedding theme was Purple Royalty and The West Is Yet to Come — we can’t help but agree.
