A Pro Hockey Player’s Romantic At-Home Wedding in Easton
The Italian celebration included pasta stations, wedding cookies, and a surprise delivery of 30 Domino’s pizzas.
Summer is only months away, which means it’s crunch time for engaged couples preparing for their June-to-August weddings. In need of some last-minute inspiration? This summer garden wedding, photographed by Denise Marie, transformed the bride’s grandparents’ estate into a romantic outdoor escape.
The moment Kasey Lush met Jaycob Megna at the Tribeca Grill in New York City, she thought he was too good to be true. The in-person meet-up was a first for the pair, who had hit it off after talking on the phone for a month—after Jaycob had DM’ed Kasey on Instagram. “It was like we knew each other forever,” Kasey says.
A year and a half later, the couple was living in San Diego. One night, Kasey came home to Jaycob, a professional hockey player with the Chicago Wolves, down on one knee when she opened the door. He had filled the room with candles and was playing their favorite song when he asked her to be his bride.
On August 4th, 2018, Kasey and Jaycob wed at Kasey’s grandparents’ estate in Easton, PA, following in the footsteps of Kasey’s parents, who also wed at the home. The romantic Italian celebration featured pasta stations, carving stations, roasted Italian vegetables and potatoes as well as hundreds of Italian wedding cookies made by the bride’s grandmother. In addition to the delicacies, the groom surprised guests at night’s end with 30 Domino’s pizzas as a late-night snack.
For both the bride and groom, their first glimpses of one another were the most memorable wedding details. “When I was in the house before the ceremony, I saw Jaycob leading the groomsmen out,” Kasey says. “I could see him, but he couldn’t see me.” The pair didn’t do a first look, so for Jaycob, seeing Kasey walk out of the house — to become his wife — was the most special moment.
