This Couple Wore “Just Married” Eagles Jerseys at Their Wedding

Fresh from Super Bowl Sunday, it’s only right that we take some time to acknowledge that time we won the Big Game. You know, back in 2018. To do so, we give you this Drexelbrook wedding photographed by Du Soleil Photographie. The occasion, which took place in October 2018, proved that victory celebrations continued year-round. See how the bride and groom honored the Birds below.

Dhara Patel and Jibin George met in high school, but their story wasn’t immediately happily ever after. They dated as teenagers but parted ways after a year together. It wasn’t until they both attended Drexel University that they’d meet again — and rediscover their relationship.

This time, though, they were in it for the long haul: After eight years together, Jibin planned a surprise proposal at Drexel Park, home to Dhara’s favorite view of the city. For the occasion, Jibin set up a park table with candles, flowers and photos, and a photographer hid in the bushes (while friends and family hid in their cars).

Cathedral wedding

Eleven months after their engagement, Dhara and Jibin wed at St. Mary’s Malankara Orthodox Cathedral in Huntingdon Valley. Following their nuptials, they and 245 guests celebrated at Drexelbrook in Drexel Hill. Dhara describes the Big Day as a “union of two states” because although she and Jibin are both from India, they come from different states, religious backgrounds and cultures.

The most exciting — and most Philly — moment of the celebration occurred when the bride and groom surprised guests by entering their reception in custom “Just Married” Eagles jerseys to honor the team’s Super Bowl victory earlier that year. Equipped with footballs, they made their entrance to none other than “Dreams and Nightmares” by Meek Mill.
