Bridal Beauty Inspo: 5 Wedding-Day Nail Polish Ideas from New York Fashion Week

Like many a fashion girl, I love clicking through billions upon billions of gorgeous fall looks during New York Fashion Week—but I also really enjoy the little insider beauty tips that come out of each event. From hair tutorials to the latest gloss I can add to my already hoarder-like collection, it’s always fun to gather a little extra something from each runway show.

And so you can imagine how obsessed I was with the little how-to’s that Essie put together after each show for which the well-loved polish brand gussied up the models’s fingertips. I scrolled through each one, taking mental notes about the colors I’d want to scoop up at Beans on the way home—and then it dawned on me: Several of these—the blush, the nude, the shimmery whites and subtle glitters—would make really cool wedding-day looks for brides.

And so here, I’ve rounded up five looks created by Essie for designer runways at NYFW: The colors used, the layering technique, and shots of the final product. Would you use any of these on your Big Day?

Colors: Ridge Filling base coat; Topless & Barefoot; Limo-Scene; Set in Stones; Gel Setter top coat

How to:

• Apply Ridge Filling base coat to clean, filed nails
• Apply one thin coat of Topless & Barefoot
• Apply one coat of Limo-Scene
• Carefully dot Set in Stones on the nail near the cuticle, working the glitter towards the free edge to create the gradient effect
• Finish with Gel Setter top coat

Alexander Wang:

Colors: First Base base coat; Cocktails & Coconuts; Matte About You

How to:

• Apply First Base to clean, filed nails
• Apply one even coat of Cocktails & Coconuts
• Finish with two coats of Matte About You

Altuzarra:

Colors: First Base base coat; Like Linen, Au Natural; Gel Setter top coat

How to:

• Apply First Base to clean, filed nails
• Apply one coat of Like Linen, avoiding the nail’s half moon shape at cuticle
• Apply one coat of Au Natural over entire nail
• Finish with Gel Setter top coat

How to:

• Apply two coats of Sparkle on Top
