Question: Neither my fiancé nor I love the whole wedding-party-announcement thing at receptions, but we’re worried that without it, there’s nothing to officially kick the party off. Are there any good alternatives?

Answer: One way to change it up is to introduce the bridesmaids as a group and the groomsmen as a group, leaving just the two of you to be introduced at the end, says Jason Weldon, president and CEO of Synergetic Sound + Lighting. Especially with larger bridal parties, this alternative “lets people know the party is starting and doesn’t require them to sit through a lot of individual introductions.”

Weldon has also seen each member of the bridal party come out lip-synching a different part of a song. Or, you could have the DJ simply ask for your guests’ attention as you make your way onto the floor for your first dance.
