The Best Thing That Happened This Week: They’re Doing Another Rocky Movie!
Gonna fly … again!
Hey, we’re Philadelphians. You know we love Rocky — the “yo’s,” the rowhouse squalor, Butkus and the turtles named “Cuff” and “Link.” And even though Rocky’s creator, Sylvester Stallone, looks a little like a cadaver these days (okay, a lot like a cadaver), we were distraught when he announced last year on Instagram (“Sadly, all things must pass … ”) that the Italian Stallion franchise — Rockies 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Rocky Balboa and the two Creeds — was finally dead.
Hold on, though! Not so fast! Cue that theme song! (“Gonna fly now … ”) In a new interview with Variety, the indefatigable actor/director reveals he’s working on yet another installment, about Rocky and a young undocumented-immigrant fighter he takes under his wing. He also bitches interminably about how he never made any money off the goddamn franchise. That’s how we know he’s really one of us.
