Keep an Ear Out for Free Philadelphia Orchestra Concerts at SEPTA Stations
The orchestra is holding pop-up shows throughout the city on Monday as part of its annual audience appreciation concert series.
SEPTA riders are in for a surprise concert — by a Philadelphia Orchestra ensemble — during their afternoon commutes on Monday.
The performances at SEPTA’s Jefferson and Suburban stations are part of the orchestra’s annual audience appreciation concerts. As part of the series, which is in its fourth year, Philadelphia Orchestra members will hold 30 small, pop-up performances at makeshift venues across the city from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m on Monday.
Locations include: Parc (at 2 p.m.), The Museum of the American Revolution (at 2 p.m.), and several branches of the Free Library of Philadelphia (at various times). You can find more information on The Philadelphia Orchestra’s website.
This year’s audience appreciation series will end around 9 p.m. with a performance of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh-inning stretch of the Phillies game against the New York Mets at Citizen’s Bank Park — featuring violins and double bass.
