Students all over the city — and the nation — left school on Wednesday morning to protest gun violence in the form of a walkout.

Those who took part in the demonstration stood outside for at least 17 minutes to honor the 17 victims of the Parkland mass shooting (one of the deadliest in modern history), which occurred exactly one month ago. Students nationwide have joined advocates in calling for Congress to pass tougher gun laws in the wake of the tragedy.

Here’s what the effort looked like in Philly — where hundreds of students flooded Broad Street and City Hall.
