LGBTQ Event of the Week: Equality Coalition’s “Take Pride Back” Celebration
For its innovative approach and intersectional lens, this week’s LGBTQ event of the week is the Equality Coalition’s “Take Pride Back” Celebration. Come embrace inclusion and diversity at an event planning to “publicly demonstrate the strength, endurance, and power in solidarity of the queer and trans communities and our accomplices in the resistance against the increased discrimination and violence towards our community perpetuated by the current political and social environment.” As an alternative to the traditional Philly Pride festivities happening over the weekend, the Equality Coalition’s celebration is centered more on activism and empowering marginalized groups within the community. Local speakers and performers from various diverse groups within the city are slated to attend. The event kicks off at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 18th, at City Hall (North Apron, under the flags). Free admission.
