Ben Simmons Headlines Sixers Summer League Roster
The Philadelphia 76ers released the roster that will compete in the Utah Jazz and Samsung (Las Vegas) NBA Summer Leagues, which does include #1 overall pick Ben Simmons.
Simmons created a little bit of concern over whether or not he would compete in summer league play during his introductory press conference last week when he directed inquiries about his participation to his agent.
Simmons headlines a group that includes second year players T.J. McConnell, Richaun Holmes, and Christian Wood. It also includes fellow 2016 draft pick Timothe Luwawu, as well as undrafted free agents such as Alex Caruso (Texas A&M), James Web III (Boise State), and Maodo Lo (Columbia).
Dario Saric will not be participating in summer league as he will be competing in the Olympic qualifying tournament for Croatia, which overlaps with the NBA summer leagues. Joel Embiid will also not play as he continues his rehab from surgery last offseason to repair the navicular bone in his right foot.
Assistant coach Billy Lange will lead the team in Utah, with Lloyd Pierce taking over head coaching responsibilities in Vegas.
