Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine offered to pay for slain South-Jersey “Voice” singer Christina Grimmie‘s funeral, according to the Associated Press.

Grimmie, 22, was fatally shot while meeting with fans following her performance in Orlando on June 10th. She died in a hospital the following morning.

Levine, 37, coached Grimmie during the sixth season of NBC’s “The Voice,” in 2014. Grimmie finished in third place. Levine said he was “absolutely devastated and heartbroken” in a tweet posted this weekend.

Grimmie’s brother, Marcus Grimmie, said that Levine personally called his mother and offered to pay for funeral expenses in a Facebook post Sunday. Levine’s spokeswoman confirmed, according to the AP.

A vigil held last night in Grimmie’s N.J. hometown of Marlton, N.J., is estimated to have attracted hundreds.

“She loved this town,” Marcus Grimmie told the crowd, according to the AP. “She loved this state. She loved singing. She loved the Lord and she loved me. She was my baby sister.”

The funeral was held at the Memorial Sports Complex in Evesham Township, where Grimmie grew up until she moved to L.A. in 2012, the AP reports.

Grimmie’s alleged killer, Kevin James Loibl, shot and killed himself during a struggle with Marcus Grimmie, who lunged at Loibl almost immediately after Loibl began shooting, police said. Loibl’s motives are still not clear.
