Report: Brandon Ingram to Work Out For Sixers on Monday
According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, the Sixers will hold a private workout and interview with Duke forward Brandon Ingram on Monday.
The Sixers have not yet scheduled a meeting with LSU forward Ben Simmons, who is widely regarded as the other top prospect the Sixers would seriously consider with the #1 overall pick.
Ingram, still only 18 years old, averaged 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game during his only season at Duke. He shot 44.2 percent from the field and 41 percent from three-point range, connecting on 80 three-point shots on the season.
The Sixers have already met with Ingram twice. The first was an interview the Sixers conducted with Ingram during the NBA pre-draft Combine, which took place in Chicago last month. The second was when the Sixers attended a workout conducted by Ingram’s agency, Excel Sports Management, which included fellow Excel clients Jamal Murray and Thon Maker.
While Ben Simmons is the heavy favorite to be selected by the Sixers with the first overall pick in June 23rd’s draft, Ingram is almost universally regarded as a top-2 pick.
In addition to the first overall pick, the Sixers also currently hold the 24th and 26th picks in the draft, and are rumored to be exploring possibilities to acquire another pick near the top of the draft. The Sixers do not currently have a second round pick.
