LOCAL NEWS: Equality PA Endorses Hillary Clinton for President
Equality Pennsylvania endorses Hillary Clinton for president.
Prominent LGBTQ advocacy organization Equality Pennsylvania on Tuesday formally announced its support for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. “For years, Hillary Clinton has fought for LGBT people — as Senator, as Secretary of State, and as a candidate for President,” said executive director Ted Martin in an official statement. “Equality PA is proud to support her so she can continue to fight for all of us as the next President of the United States.
“Among all the candidates, Secretary Clinton has the most comprehensive and compelling plan to achieve full equality for LGBT people in Pennsylvania and across the country. … She’s fighting for us, so we are proud to be fighting for her to become the next President of the United States.” The endorsement follows those of many other LGBTQ organizations in recent weeks. Human Rights Campaign led the charge earlier this year with its support, followed by Philly’s own Liberty City LGBT Democratic Club endorsing her last week. The Clinton campaign plans to celebrate this evening with an LGBTQ happy hour at STIR, 1705 Chancellor Street, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
