Bridge Inspections to Cause Slowdowns on Philly Roads Starting Next Week
If you’re driving during the middle of the day in and around Philadelphia between February 16th and February 25th, be prepared to slow down at the following locations, as PennDOT will be closing lanes on several area roads for routine bridge inspections.
Here’s when and where there will be lane closures, day by day:
Tuesday, February 16
I-95 between Grant Avenue and Ashburner Road: The right lane northbound will be closed from 9 to 11 a.m., the left lane northbound will be closed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the right lane southbound will be closed from 1 to 3 p.m.
Allegheny Avenue at I-95: The left turn lane from westbound Allegheny Avenue to the on-ramp to southbound I-95 will be closed from 7 to 9 a.m.
I-95 southbound between Enterprise Avenue/Island Avenue and Philadelphia International Airport: The right lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day through Friday, February 19.
I-95 southbound between I-676 and Broad Street (Route 611): The right lane will be closed from 9 to 11 a.m.
Wednesday, February 17
Roosevelt Boulevard (US 1) between Bridge Street and Oxford Circle: The right lane northbound will be closed from 9 to 11 a.m., the left lane northbound will be closed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the right lane southbound will be closed from 1 to 3 p.m.
I-95 southbound between I-676 and Columbus Boulevard/Washington Avenue: The right lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon, and the left lane will be closed from noon to 3 p.m.
Thursday, February 18
I-95 southbound from I-76 to Broad Street (Route 611): The left lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon.
Betsy Ross Bridge ramp to southbound I-95: The right lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and tomorrow (Friday, February 19).
Saturday, February 20
Betsy Ross Bridge ramp to southbound I-95: The left lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuesday, February 23 and Thursday, February 25
I-95 southbound between I-676 and Columbus Boulevard/Washington Avenue: The right lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon, and the left lane will be closed from noon to 3 p.m.
Allow additional time for travel in the vicinity of these lane closures, which will take place if the weather permits. The inspections are part of PennDOT’s ongoing program of bridge maintenance, in which bridges are inspected every two years for safety and overall condition.
