Phillies Minor League Club Wearing Elf-Themed Jerseys Tonight

As part of a “Christmas in July” promotion at tonight’s game, the Reading Fightin Phils will be donning elf-themed jerseys at the ballpark tonight. They are ridiculous-looking, obviously, as they look like an elf costume.

Of course, these are about the best elf outfit/baseball jersey hybrid one could possibly make, so — while they’d be inappropriate for a regular baseball jersey — they’re pretty fantastic for a one-off. (The inspiration appears to be Buddy the Elf from Will Ferrell’s 2003 film Elf.)

The first 5,000 fans tonight at Reading will also receive Christmas stockings tonight. The player jerseys will be auctioned off after the game, with proceeds going to the Children’s Miracle Network.
