Snoop Dogg Offends With Transphobic Comment on Instagram
Rapper Snoop Dogg is in the, well dog house, this week after he posted a photo on Instagram that some are calling transphobic.
The image in question—which has since been removed—was of Cortez Boone, a caretaker at a senior care facility in Edgewater, Maryland. It was accompanied by the problematic caption: “Whose auntcle is this?”
If that wasn’t bad enough, a slew of Snoop’s 4.1 million followers left all kinds of transphobic comments on the photo, hurling slurs directly at Boone.
Boone contacted Instagram to have the image removed, but it stayed up until he consulted a lawyer to investigate legal action against Snoop. So far the rapper hasn’t issued a response.
This isn’t the first time Snoop Dogg has come under fire for homophobic remarks. In September he posted a photo of two men in bed together, with the caption “U n ya boyfriend since u like Jumpn on my page disrespectn b**** boy go suck ya man n get off my line f**.”
On the flip side, however, Mr. Dogg has expressed support for the LGBT community in the past, saying in 2013 that he has “no problem with gay people,” and he’s come out in support for gay marriage.
