ESPN Apologizes for Kinky Friedman Remark on Chris Christie
You may ask yourself why Kinky Friedman was on ESPN in the first place? Oh, the whole kerfuffle about Chris Christie being a Cowboys fan? That’s how we’re going to do this? What could possibly go wrong?
Texas country singer, songwriter and humorist Kinky Friedman, booked to talk about the bromance between New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, called it “the most important, latent homosexual relationship since Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.”
When host Bob Ley said, “You don’t really mean that, obviously,” Friedman backpedaled by saying, “They both desperately want to be loved … and I agree that being in the owners’ box is not the way.”
After the segment — which included Star-Ledger columnist Paul Mulshine — ended, host Bob Ley apologized to the audience for Friedman’s comments.
