Abraham Confirms Run for Mayor
Former District Attorney Lynne Abraham has confirmed that she is a candidate for Philadelphia mayor, making it official during a forum at Penn State Abington.
“I am a candidate for mayor of Philadelphia,” Abraham said, introducing herself to the law students on hand. The news was reported by the school’s PR department on Monday, but the report didn’t say when Abraham gave her talk.
The announcement comes as no surprise. A campaign adviser told the Inky about the planned run back in September; Abraham declined to make an announcement at the time but told the paper: “I am not keeping it a secret that I’ll be entering the race.” And she told Philly Mag a year before that her odds of entering the race were good.
Philadelphia has never had a female mayor.
