PHOTOS: Philly Gay Pride 2014

Just as we predicted, Philly’s Pride festivities were b-a-n-a-n-a-s on Sunday. Philly Pride President Franny Price tells me at least 11,000 showed up for the festival at Penn’s Landing, and that doesn’t even count the folks who just stuck around for the Parade. “We broke all records,” she says. “It’s the biggest Pride in Philly I’ve ever seen. It was wonderful; everybody was celebrating.”

This year, there was something extra to celebrate — the passage of marriage equality in Pennsylvania on May 20th. To mark the occasion, 14 couples were married on Independence Mall, and lovebirds were putting rings on it all over the place — including GALAEI Executive Director Elicia Gonzales, who proposed to her girlfriend Megan in front of a crowd of cheering onlookers. (Spoiler alert: She said yes!)

Penn’s Landing was packed for a performance by what is perhaps the gayest boy band of all time (and that’s saying a lot), the Village People.
