Daryl Metcalfe Tries to Impeach Kathleen Kane
PennLive reports: “Saying he’s concerned about a “pattern of abuse” displayed by Attorney General Kathleen Kane since coming into office, state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe’s House State Government Committee will hold a hearing Tuesday on his resolution to impeach Kane.”
There are a number of reasons that Metcalfe lists for the attempted impeachment; most notably, he’s angered she chose not to defend the state’s anti-gay marriage law from a legal challenge, and that she didn’t bring charges in the now-infamous “abandoned sting” case.
Just don’t expect it to go anywhere: “For Kane to be ousted from office, Metcalfe’s resolution would have to pass the Government committee, the full House, the Senate, and then the Senate would have to convict Kane in an impeachment trial. Few political watchers think that is likely to happen, even though Kane has been a polarizing figure since she campaigned on investigating how Corbett oversaw the Jerry Sandusky case as Attorney General.”
