Chester, Montgomery Counties Are Hotbeds for Texting and Driving

Both counties are in the top-10 among Pennsylvania counties in texting-while-driving citations issued per 100,000 drivers in 2013.

The above chart comes from The Center for Rural Pennsylvania, a “legislative agency” of the Pennsylvania General Assembly that produces publications and reports for lawmakers. It recently published this map of texting-while-driving citations in 2013, showing that the 8th and 10th counties with the most texting-while-driving citations in Pennsylvania are Chester and Montgomery, respectively.

The full list of local texting-while driving citations issued per 100,000 drivers:

  • Chester: 22.4
  • Montgomery: 20.6
  • Delaware: 14.6
  • Bucks: 14.8
  • Philadelphia: 13.9

These numbers are subject to a variety of factors, as officers could be directed to crack down on texting-while-driving in certain police departments and others might have more important things to do.

Still, get off your phones, people in Chester and Montco!
