So! Our beloved pro basketball franchise — which already holds the record for futility in a standard 82-game season, at 9-73 — is now one loss away from tying the all-time record for futility in consecutive games. Are you excited, Philadelphia?!
Last night, the Spurs toyed with the Sixers for a bit before pulling away for a 113-91 win. It was the 25th straight loss for the 76ers, one away from the Cavaliers’ 26-loss streak in the 2010-11 season.
Here’s a GIF that sums up the Sixers’ futility last night, and really over the past two months:
That’s Kawhi Leonard rejecting Michael Carter-Williams so hard he falls to the ground. MCW scored 17 points last night — on, ick, 5-for-20 shooting — tied with Thaddeus Young for the team high (a more efficient 7-for-20 from the floor). The Spurs have actually won 14 in a row after last night — no shame to lose to the team currently playing the best in the league.
The 15-56 Sixers can lose to another good team Thursday night; they play the 48-22 Rockets. The record is within reach!
