Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski Announces Campaign for Governor
With his announcement over the weekend, Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski joined the long list of state democrats looking to take over Tom Corbett’s seat in 2014. Today, Pawlowski officially kicks off his campaign in Allentown.
Call it a response to Corbett’s low approval ratings, but Pawlowski took to the media to explain why he’s the best choice going right now, telling the Inquirer, “I am the only executive in this race, the only one who has run a government.” In fact, as Pawlowski noted, at least four challengers have never run for any kind of office.
Other democrats eyeing the big seat include York’s Tom Wolf, U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz and former state environmental protection secretary John Hanger. Should one of them beat out the Allentown hopeful, though, no worries: Pawlowski plans to run for a third mayoral term simultaneously next year.
But don’t take my word for it, Pawlowski will be in Philly tonight starting at 5:30 for a conference at City Hall. Decide what position he should be in in 2014 for yourself. [Philly.com]
